Enabling and disabling SMTP

Important Note

Basic Authentication with POP/IMAP is deprecated and no longer available on the NHSmail Shared Tenant. Although Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is still supported, we recommend switching to another protocol as it may be deprecated in the near future. Please follow the guidance – https://support.nhs.net/article-categories/basic-authentication-deprecation/ for more details and process on switching to Modern authentication.

Click Admin in the navigation bar at the top of the screen and select User Management from the drop down menu

Use the search box to find the account you wish to edit

Refer to the Searching for an Entry section for more information

Click on the user’s Display Name to open the User Details Page

From the User Details Page, click the  SMTP button in the Actions box

 

 

To enable

Click Enable

 

 

 

The following message will be displayed:

Success notification

Click Update at the bottom of the page

To disable SMTP

Click Disable

 

 

 

The following message will be displayed:

Success notification

Click Update at the bottom of the page.
