Searching for items in your mailbox

Outlook on the Web (OWA)

1. Login in to your nhs.net account via the NHSmail Portal

2. If you know the rough location of the email for which you are searching, select the appropriate folder or sub-folder on the left side of the screen; if you do not know its location, select Inbox

3. Click on the search bar at the top of the screen and type in any identifying information, such as subjectrecipient or any other keywords.

Handy Hint

To run a search across all your mailboxes simultaneously, you will need to use the Outlook desktop client and follow the instructions in the next section. OWA searches are limited to a single mailbox at a time.

If you want to search for an email across all folders, select “All folders” from the dropdown to the left of the search bar. You can also search specifically within inbox, sent items, deleted items, drafts and any folders you have created

4. If you want to further refine your search, such as only showing messages between certain dates, select the dropdown to the right of the search bar

5. Select Search to see the emails that fulfil your search criteria

Handy Hint

You can refine your search by using “To:”, “From:”, “Subject:”, “Cc:” and “Bcc:” in the search bar. For example, “From:Mary” will return all emails received from Mary, and “Subject:report” will return all emails with the word “report” in the Subject line.
