Outlook 2010 Connectivity Issue

Issue description

Organisations using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 may have recently experienced connectivity issues. This issue has been identified to be caused as a result of the Windows 7 Secure Channel (Schannel) component not configured to support TLS 1.1 and 1.2 by default.

Latest updates and guidance:

As these protocol versions are not enabled by default in Windows 7, the associated registry settings require updating to ensure Office applications can successfully use TLS 1.1 and 1.2.

An automated fix to update the associated Windows 7 registry keys has been provided by Microsoft and can be downloaded HERE. Once the installer has been ran, A restart of the operating system should be performed for the updated configuration to take effect.

Please note that Outlook on the web (OWA) is not impacted by this issue and should be used as a workaround until the above fix has been installed.
