Phase 1 – Summary April 2022 – March 2023
As part of the Health and Social Care Bill, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) were introduced in July 2022.
CCG and STP codes have remained legally open to maintain continuity for systems and services consuming the codes. The 42 STP codes had a name change to reflect the new ICBs, and the 106 CCGs had a name change to reflect the new sub ICBs.
To reflect the legal name changes within NHSmail the current CCG ‘shortname’ required updating to reflect the new ICB name. Communication was disseminated about this to all 106 CCGs. The shortname change was implemented into the NHSmail portal on 1 July 2022.
Four geographic areas also had a boundary change, further details can be found here: Boundary changes 2021
Phase 2 – Future expectations
A second phase of changes for ICSs has been put on hold, further details can be found here: Phase 2 changes
Whilst discussions about ICB presence on NHSmail are still ongoing, we appreciate that ICBs need to move forward.
Further updates will be provided here as we receive them.
Organisations renewing their current agreements from existing CCGs into ICBs, please follow the existing onboarding guidance here: Onboarding Guide for Local Administrators – NHSmail Support
