User’s Mailbox Size Reverted to Default (4GB/50GB) for Existing Members in User Policies with Larger Mailbox Size Toggle ON After Update– PRB0223379

Issue Description

We are aware of an issue with user’s mailbox quotas reverting to their default size. This occurs after an update is made to the user policy page in Portal. This affects all user policies that have the Large Mailbox Size toggle enabled. Please see the below base licenses that present the Large Mailbox Size toggle in the User Policy page:

  • Office 365 Enterprise E1 (grants 50GB so only affects P2 orgs)
  • Office 365 Enterprise E3 (grants 99GB)
  • Office 365 Enterprise E5 (grants 99GB)
  • Microsoft 365 E3 (locally purchased (grants 99GB))
  • Microsoft 365 E5 (grants 99GB)

When creating user policies with the above base licenses, the correct mailbox size is allocated. Upon further updates, the existing members will see a reduction in their mailbox quota.

Latest Updates and Guidance:

This is being investigated under problem record PRB0223379.

Any updates to a user’s user detail page will correct the mailbox size so we recommend admins perform a blank update to any accounts that are affected and require the uplift urgently.

A workaround has been automated to uplift any affected users. We recommend LAs raise a service request with the Helpdesk (helpdesk@nhs.net) if mailboxes sizes are not corrected within the hour. They should provide the User Policy name, along with the existing members that require a mailbox uplift post user policy update.
