Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Default app ID users may be prompted to reauthenticate scenarios in Microsoft Graph PowerShell and Microsoft Graph CLI.

More info: The impact listed is a result of the proactive Microsoft Graph Command Line Tools Entra app service migration in MC804763. Only users who’ve not registered their own Entra app (i.e. using the default Microsoft Graph PowerShell and Microsoft Graph CLI app) may be affected.

Final Update: 01/07/2024 09:20:00 AM – Microsoft confirmed after their review of service telemetry to support the migration transition, that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Your organization was affected by this event, and some default app ID users utilizing Microsoft Graph PowerShell or Microsoft Graph CLI may have been impacted.

Root cause: A recent Microsoft Graph Command Line Tools Entra app service migration, intended to improve general security features, may prompt users to reauthenticate for some scenarios listed in the More Info section of this communication.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing their service migration procedures to help prevent this problem from happening again.
