Issue Description : We have identified an issue when searching for Distribution Lists within the Portal UI. This slowness effects only part searches, meaning that using the entire address or name will return searches in the usual way, but searching for part of the DL may be slower than usual.

Final Update : 17/10/2022 12:00:00 PM – NHSmail Engineers identified the issue and found that it only impacted those with Global Admin access and/or larger organisations more frequently than others. The workaround is to put in the full name or full email address of the Distribution List, which reduces the search time considerably. The reason that this provides the search results more quickly is because of the way the code is factored and how it operates depending on a full name / email search versus a partial text string. With the full name / email search, the code is simply combing through the entire list of DLs but can quickly and easily discount many of the DLs as it encounters them which greatly reduces the time to search and the list of results. However, when a partial text string is searched for, the text string is searched for throughout each entire DL name / email and this is a far more intensive operational process – as you would expect, it also typically returns a much larger set of results too. A bug has been raised and will be tracked for a release in the future.
