Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Some users may encounter intermittent failures with an error when sending prompts in Microsoft 365 Copilot.

More info: This issue intermittently affected a subset of licensed Copilot users attempting to send prompts through Copilot Chat in a web browser while the “Web” content toggle was enabled. Affected users may have received a “Sorry, something went wrong” error when submitting messages and prompts.

Affected users could’ve used the “Work” tab in Copilot Chat to avoid the impact.

Final Update: 10/08/2026 09:35:00 AM Microsoft has completed the rollback of the affected update and confirmed through service telemetry that the issue is resolved. Affected users may need to refresh Copilot Chat to experience impact remediation.

Scope of impact: Some users with Copilot licenses encountered errors when attempting to send prompts through Copilot Chat while the “Web” content toggle was enabled.

Root cause: A recent change intended to improve how Copilot requests were routed unexpectedly sent some requests through an incompatible service path, resulting in the impact.

Next steps: Microsoft is reviewing their validation and updating procedures to better detect and prevent issues like this prior to deployment in the future.
