NHSMail Reference: INC42090816
Microsoft Reference: MO752474
Issue Status: RESOLVED
Issue Description: Users may hear an echo if embedded audio is enabled when using PowerPoint Live in the new Microsoft Teams.
More Info: Impact occurs if a Mac user is present and unmuted in the presentation. It can also occur when users are sharing content with “Include Computer Sound” enabled in Microsoft Teams.
To avoid this issue, use the Share button within Teams to share the presentation, and make sure to enable the “Include sound” option.
Users will need to restart their Microsoft Teams client to receive the fix.
Final Update: 04/09/2024 08:40:00 AM – Following the completed deployment of Microsoft’s solution, their internal service telemetry has confirmed that impact has been remediated.
Scope of impact: Any user may be impacted when joining a PowerPoint Live presentation that has embedded audio enabled and has a Mac user who is both unmuted and on the new Microsoft Teams clients.
Root cause: A compatibility issue was introduced with a previous service update to disable the loopback driver in PowerPoint Live to resolve an unrelated issue, which is causing users to hear an echo if embedded audio is enabled when a Mac user is present.
Next steps: Microsoft are further analyzing the offending service update and the introduced compatibility issue so we can help isolate similar issues during our pre-deployment testing and validation processes.
