Issue Description : Some users may be unable to search within classic SharePoint Online site collections.

More Info : Users were unable to search within classic SharePoint Online site collections.

Scope of impact : This issue impacted a subset of users utilizing cloud cache accounts and are served through the affected infrastructure.

Final Update : 25/08/2022 08:55:00 AM – Reversion of the offending service change is complete, and Microsoft has confirmed via service telemetry that this issue is resolved.

Root cause : A recent service update that was intending to improve the routing of cloud cache traffic introduced a code issue that was preventing some users from using the search function within classic SharePoint Online site collections.

Next steps : Microsoft is reviewing their validation and update procedures to detect and prevent issues like this prior to deployment in the future.
