Issue Description: Admins’ Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) server devices have the incorrect DeviceOSType in Microsoft Intune portal.

More info: Additionally, this issue may also result in admins who have dynamic device groups that leverage the DeviceOSType property in their device group membership to be different than expected.

Current Update: 20/08/2026 08:45:00 AM – Microsoft has determined that a recent product update introduced device metadata changes that were not fully accounted for, leading to impact. They have prepared a fix and are testing and validating it in their internal environment prior to deployment. They will anticipate being able to provide a timeline for deployment by their next scheduled communications update.

Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and admins seeing incorrect DeviceOSType values for some MDE Attach servers in Microsoft Intune portal along with admins who have dynamic device groups that leverage the DeviceOSType property in their device group membership are impacted.
