Final Update: 24/07/2026 09:38:00 AM Microsoft has validated that the completed backfilling process has successfully resolved this impact.

Scope of impact: Some admins may have seen that Cowork Tasks that should been categorised as “Scheduled” were reported as “User-Initiated” in Microsoft 365 Copilot Cowork usage reports in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Root cause: The classification logic utilised to apply labels to affected tasks was incorrectly classifying “Scheduled” tasks as “User-Initiated”, which resulted in this impact.

Next steps: Microsoft is reviewing the involved classification logic to better understand what led to the incorrect task classification and prevent similar future occurrences.
