Issue Description: Users can’t view or generate custom visuals in Power BI.

More info: When users attempt to run R/Python scripts to generate custom visuals, they receive an error screen which states: “Script Runtime Error”

Final Update: 16/09/2024 08:35:00 AM – Microsoft have finished reverting the offending Power BI update, and they have confirmed via internal service monitoring and validating their fix with affected users that impact is resolved.

Scope of impact : Your organization is affected, and any user attempting to run R/Python scripts to generate custom visuals in Power BI is impacted.

Root cause: A recent update to the Power BI infrastructure responsible for generating custom visuals using R/Python scripts introduced a code error that’s leading to impact.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing their Power BI update and validation testing policies to prevent future updates from causing potential impact and to ensure that similar impact does not occur in future.
