Issue Description: Users may be unable to anonymously join Microsoft Teams live events using the Android or iOS app.

More info: The Android and iOS app stops responding when attempting to join live events.

Final Update: 12/07/2024 08:53:00 AM – The deployment of the fix has completed and Microsoft have confirmed through monitoring service telemetry that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Any user attempting to anonymously join Microsoft Teams live events using the Android app may be impacted.

Root cause: A service update intended to improve authentication processes has introduced an authentication format processing issue that is preventing users from anonymously joining Microsoft Teams live events from Android or iOS devices.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing their update procedures to understand why impact to Microsoft Teams live events wasn’t caught during the testing phase. This will allow us to drive service improvements by proactively identifying similar issues in the future and improve their update testing processes.
