Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users’ Android devices weren’t checking in policies, remote lock, or remote wipe commands as quickly as expected.

More info: This only impacted Android devices enrolled with Device Administrator with non-Google managed services. The normal check-in period for these commands is 15 minutes, but devices were only checking in every eight hoursned that the fix should reach affected users by March 21, 2024. They will confirm this estimate once the deployment has started as they are finalizing it’s staging.

Final Update: 05/03/2024 09:05:00 AM The deployment of the fix is complete and users with automated updates enabled will receive the fix to resolve this issue with the next automatic update. Users with automated updates disabled will need to manually update their devices from the Google Play Store to receive the fix and experience impact remediation.

Scope of impact: Your organization was affected by this event, and some users expecting their Android devices enrolled with Device Administrator with non-Google managed services to check-in policies, remote lock, or remote wipe commands were impacted.

Root cause: A recent update meant to encrypt application operations has mistakenly prevented affected devices’ 15-minute command check functionality from working, resulting in impact.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing their validation and update procedures to detect and prevent issues like this prior to deployment in the future.
