NHSMail Reference: INC42090816

Microsoft Reference: MO752474

Issue Status: ONGOING

Issue Description: Users may hear an echo if embedded audio is enabled when using PowerPoint Live in the new Microsoft Teams.

More Info: Users may hear an echo if embedded audio is enabled when using PowerPoint Live in the new Microsoft Teams.

Impact only occurs if a Mac user is present and unmuted in the presentation.

To avoid this issue, use the Share button within Teams to share the presentation, and make sure to enable the “Include sound” option.

Current Update: 18/07/2024 08:55:00 AM Microsoft are in their final phase of preparing to initiate the deployment of the fix to our internal testing environment for additional validations. They anticipate that once the deployment completes to our internal environment, it may take several weeks before the fix is ready to be initiated through our phased deployment process in some of the impacted environments. They’ll aim to provide an updated deployment estimate once one becomes available.

Scope of impact: Any user may be impacted when joining a PowerPoint Live presentation that has embedded audio enabled and has a Mac user who is both unmuted and on the new Microsoft Teams clients.

Root cause: A compatibility issue was introduced with a previous service update to disable the loopback driver in PowerPoint Live to resolve an unrelated issue, which is causing users to hear an echo in embedded audio is enabled when a Mac user is present.
