Issue Description: Users can’t turn on captions for Town hall events in the classic Microsoft Teams desktop client.

More info: Specifically, when users click the Captions button to turn on live captions, nothing happens.

Users can switch to the new Microsoft Teams desktop client to avoid this issue.

Final Update: 13/02/2024 08:40:00 AM – Microsoft have have successfully deployed the fix to the affected infrastructure and after a period of monitoring, they’ve confirmed impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Users on the classic Microsoft Teams desktop client who are attempting to turn on captions for Town hall events are impacted.

Root cause: A previous update to the Microsoft Teams infrastructure introduced a code issue, leading to impact.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing the affected infrastructure to determine what improvements can be made to prevent similar issues from occurring.
