Issue Description : Users may be unable to delete Messaging records management (MRM) retention tags within Exchange Online.

Final Update : 09/10/2023 08:35:00 AM – Microsoft developed and implemented a fix to remediate the impact in the affected environment.

Scope of impact : Impact is specific to any user who is served through the affected infrastructure attempting to delete MRM retention tags within Exchange Online.

Root cause : A recent update designed to improve the functionality of syncing directory object changes between on-premises and Exchange Online has resulted is a code regression.

Next steps : Microsoft are reviewing their update analysis procedures to help better identify and prevent similar code regressions from happening in the future.
