Issue Description : Users unexpectedly see a folder icon for the “Document Set” content type in SharePoint Online.

Final Update : 01/09/2023 08:35:00 AM – Microsoft’s fix has finished deploying throughout the affected environment, which has remediated impact.

Scope of impact : Users serviced by the affected infrastructure utilizing Document Sets in SharePoint Online are impacted.

Root cause : An issue introduced with a recent feature update intended to add more folder customizability is causing erroneous handling of the Document Set icon, resulting in impact.

Next steps : Microsoft are investigating further into the recent feature update to better understand why this issue wasn’t caught before deployment so that they can prevent and avoid similar issues from occurring in the future.
