28/07/2023 16:30:00 PM (GMT)

NHSmail Reference : INC37293927

Microsoft Reference : TM662085

Issue Status : RESOLVED

Issue Description : Calling notifications on the new Microsoft Teams Windows Desktop app are not displaying any icons or text on the buttons.

More Info : While users still saw button icons for answer options on incoming call notifications, the text denoting each selection as “Answer with audio,” “Answer with video,” and “Decline call” may have been missing. Users could have still successfully answered calls by selecting either of the options that weren’t red in color.

As a workaround, users may have experienced relief by utilizing the Microsoft Teams Web app, the Microsoft Teams Mobile app, or by switching back to the non-preview version of Microsoft Teams.

Final Update : 31/07/2023 08:56:00 AM Microsoft completed deploying our fix addressing the omitted code affecting inbound call notifications and they are confident that once users update to the latest version, impact will be wholly resolved. While the service should automatically update to reflect this change, this can take several hours and we recommend that users update their Microsoft Teams desktop client to expedite remediation and ensure the change is registered as expected.

Scope of impact : Impact is specific to some users who are served through the affected infrastructure using the new Microsoft Teams version

Root cause : A recent Microsoft Teams desktop client for Windows update led to the inadvertent omission of the portion of code responsible for including button information on inbound calling notifications in the new Microsoft Teams (Preview), which led to impact.

Next steps : Microsoft are assessing the process by which code facilitating information present on inbound calling notification buttons is included or omitted in new updates so they can take precautionary measures to prevent impact stemming from similar omissions in the future.
