Issue Description : Users’ files in the Preservation Hold Library aren’t being deleted by retention policies or retention labels.

More Info : This issue specifically affects the SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Preservation Hold Library which are managed by your admins through the Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management services.

Final Update : 07/09/2023 08:36:00 AM – Microsoft successfully deployed the fix to all affected environments and after monitoring the service, they have verified that the fix has resolved the problem.

Scope of impact : Your organization is affected by this event, and users’ files within the SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Preservation Hold Library document library aren’t being deleted by Data Lifecycle Management and Records Management retention policies or retention labels.

Root cause : A recent Preservation Hold Library update resulted in disruption of the delete processing service, which removes files in accordance with your configured retention policies or retention labels, causing the impact.
