Information – Basic Authentication Deprecation for EAS and RPC over HTTP protocols – COMPLETED

The planned NHSmail platform upgrade to retire the below Basic Authentication protocols was completed without issues on Thursday 27th April 2023 at 19.00.

  • Exchange Active Sync (EAS)
  • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

Organisations using mail or calendar applications, and users with managed or personal mobile and desktop devices who are connected to Exchange Online and using the above Basic Authentication protocols will not be able to send and receive emails without taking action. Users should follow the guidance set out on the NHSmail Support Site to restore their access:

Please note that users will be able to access their mailbox via Microsoft Outlook Web Access, go to the NHSmail Portal (https://portal.nhs.net/) and click on the Email tab on the top menu.
