Issue Status : RESOLVED

Issue Description : Admins may be unable to see the username or User Principal Name (UPN) of any user within any Microsoft 365 usage report.

More Information : The field showed an alternative alpha numeric value instead of the username or UPN to identify users.

Final Update : 27/02/2023 09:40:00 AM – Microsoft have finished replaying the data to display the correct usernames and UPNs in the affected reports, and they have monitored telemetry to confirm the impact is remediated.

Scope of impact : Any admin who reviewed any usage report that contained a username or UPN for Microsoft 365 services may have been impacted.

Root cause : A recent code update caused an alternate identifying value to appear in usage reports instead of a username or UPN.

Next steps : To help prevent similar impact in the future, Microsoft are further reviewing why the code update altered the identifying value and how they can improve the validation procedures to catch such issues before updates are made.
