Issue Description : Users may receive an error message when attempting to configure Gateway connections within the Power BI service.

More info :Users may recieve the following error message: “Failed to use the selected gateway. Please make sure the gateway is up and running and try again.”

Scope of impact : Impact is specific to users hosted through the affected infrasturcture.

Final Update : 03/01/2023 12:12:00 PM – Microsoft has confirmed that the fix has completed deployment after they resolved the issue preventing it’s progress, and they have confirmed via telemetry that impact is remediated.

Root Cause : A recent service update introduced a code regression which causes impact when the same data source is selected for multiple paths in the dataset setting page binding process, resulting in subsequent binding operation failure and inability to configure gateway connections.

Next steps : Microsoft is continuing to review the impacting update to identify how the regression wasn’t caught during testing and validation, which will help them prevent similar impact in the future.
