Issue Description : Some users in Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom may be unable to join meetings from a meeting URL in the Microsoft Teams web application.
More info : User may encounter their screen appearing blank and not joining after clicking the meeting URL.
While Microsoft focused on remediation, users may have been able to access the meeting URL from the Microsoft Teams calendar application, or by refreshing the blank page by pressing the “ctrl” + “f5” keys.
Scope of impact : It was specific to some users who are served through the affected infrastructure in Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Final Update : 12/07/2022 12:25:00 PM – Microsoft have monitored the service, and confirmed impact is no longer occurring.
Root cause : A specific component, responsible for decompressing encoded meeting join bundle files, was not categorized as expected and caused users to see a blank page after clicking on meeting links.
Next steps : Microsoft are reviewing their component categorization procedures to understand the cause of the miscategorization and prevent this problem from happening again.
