Overview
NHSmail accounts are being offered to community pharmacists to support the secure exchange of patient or sensitive data with other health and social care professionals.
Upon joining NHSmail, each organisation will have one shared mailbox account per site and, in most cases, ten user accounts per site (more can be provided with business justification).
Please note the information below is applicable to England only.
National Administration Service (NAS) registration process
The NAS provides administrative support for community pharmacies via helpdesk@nhs.net.
The pharmacy registration portal is available for all community pharmacies to register for NHSmail.
Each pharmacy will need a nominated individual who will complete the registration for the site, request account details for up to four users that DO NOT already have an NHSmail account, provide a mobile phone number and current email address to complete the NHSmail application process. NHSmail accounts will then be issued directly to each user, including the details of the pharmacy shared mailbox.
To join NHSmail via the national administration registration process please use the online registration portal.
Before registering, please ensure you have:
- achieved ‘Standards Met’ level via the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
- your Organisation Data Service (ODS) code
- your General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) number
- a Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) registered email
If you have any difficulty with the NHSmail registration process, please contact the NHSmail team via helpdesk@nhs.net.
