Final Update: 10/09/2026 10:31:00 AM – Microsoft has identified that a recent Microsoft Teams app catalog update intended to update app functionality introduced an unsupported app property, which caused app catalog data to not be processed as expected, resulting in impact. They have reverted the offending change, and through monitoring the service and validation with affected users, they have verified that this action successfully remediated the problem. Affected users may need to sign out of Microsoft Teams, clear their Teams client cache, and sign back in for immediate remediation. Otherwise, the Teams client cache will automatically refresh within 24 hours, restoring the expected experience for all affected users.
Scope of impact: Some users who are using the new chat and channels experience in Microsoft Teams may be impacted. This information may be updated as the investigation continues.
Root cause: A code issue in a recent deployment to the service app catalog is preventing some app icons from appearing when using the new chat and channels experience in Microsoft Teams.
Next Steps: Microsoft are investigating how the recent Microsoft Teams app catalog update introduced the unsupported app property to help prevent similar impact from reoccurring.
