Information – Legitimate URL Blocked

14/04/2023 10:00:00 AM (GMT)

On Thursday the 6th of April, as part of our standard platform maintenance activities, action was taken to block a number of URLs identified by one of our security providers as potentially unsafe and/or nefarious in nature. It subsequently transpired that one of the URLs that was provided was a legitimate hyperlink, however, the initial action taken resulted in a significant number of mails being redirected to quarantine when they should have been delivered.

Following identification of the legitimate URL, steps were immediately taken to mitigate the issue and have taken steps to prevent mails containing this URL from being blocked. All mails incorrectly picked up and quarantined are being released to their intended recipients as quickly as possible. No timeline can be given for when this second activity will complete and emails will show the date they were quarantined, i.e., up to 10 or more days ago. We are working as hard as we can to rectify this issue and are hopeful that all impacted mails will have been released within the next 7 days or so.

On behalf of our provider and ourselves, we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our end users.
