Microsoft 365 Alert : Service Degradation – Microsoft Teams – Some users can’t access Microsoft Teams with Mobile Application Management (MAM) enrolled iOS devices – RESOLVED
27/07/2022 08:52:00 AM (BST)
Microsoft Reference : MO406564
NHSmail Reference : INC30767288
Issue Status : RESOLVED
Issue Description : Users may have been unable to access MAM protected Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Yammer iOS apps.
More info : Specifically, users may not have had App Protection Policies applied when using Microsoft Teams version 4.12 and 4.13, or Microsoft Yammer version 9.25.0. If conditional access was enabled, this may have prevented some users from accessing Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Yammer on MAM-enrolled iOS devices.
Affected users may have seen the following error: “The app could not be protected due to an issue with the Intune Service.”
While we were focused on remediation, affected users may have been able to access the Microsoft Teams iOS app or Microsoft Yammer by removing all accounts and re-adding them.
Scope of impact : Your organization is affected and impact is limited to a subset of users with MAM enrolled iOS devices.
Final Update : 02/08/2022 14:26:00 PM – Microsoft confirmed that the fixed Microsoft Yammer app version has been published to the App Store. Users may need to manually update their app to Microsoft Yammer version 9.28.0 to completely remediate this issue.
Root cause : A recent update to a portion of the MAM SDK used to facilitate MAM interoperability with various authentication components contained a code error that prevented the selection of the proper Azure AD account when a user added multiple accounts or an associated Guest Account, resulting in impact.
Next steps : Microsoft are reviewing the MAM SDK update to better understand how the code error wasn’t identified during testing and validation, which will allow us to prevent similar impact in the future.
