Final Update : 04/07/2022 09:20:00 AM – Microsoft has confirmed through their analysis of system logs in parallel with service telemetry that impact stemmed from an issue with an upstream process responsible for populating Microsoft Teams analytics and reporting data in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This process, which requires cyclical renewal of ownership to ensure data flows to destinations as expected, had exceeded its required renewal deadline, resulting in impact. To resolve the issue, they have renewed ownership and verified via service telemetry that remediation was achieved.
Root cause : An upstream process responsible for populating Microsoft Teams analytics and reporting data in the Microsoft 365 admin center exceeded its required renewal deadline, resulting in impact.
Next steps: Microsoft are investigating why ownership confirmation missed renewal and in parallel are assessing potential optimizations to prevent similar impact from occurring in the future.
