Issue Description : External users were encountering errors which prevented access to SharePoint Online sites which were shared to them.

More info : Impact was specific to newly invited external users. External users attempting to access a SharePoint Online site that was shared to them were seeing the following error:
“Something went wrong

We’re sorry, but we couldn’t accept the invitation for (insert user’s email that was attempting to access) at this time. Please try again later, while we try to automatically fix this for you”

Scope of impact : Any external user attempting to access shared SharePoint Online sites was affected.

Final Update : 22/04/2022 08:42:00 AM – Microsoft determined that stopping the offending code change was successfully completed and have received confirmation from some impacted users that the service is restored.

Root Cause : A recent change intended to improve customer experience inadvertently caused impact to our service.

Next Steps : Microsoft are reviewing the offending code change in order to prevent this from occurring in the future.
