Issue Description: Users’ Microsoft Teams application may fail to run as optimised in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

More info: This issue affects users who have updated to New VDI solution for Teams version 26213.1002.4977.2998 or later. Restarting the Microsoft Teams application will restore optimised functionality.

Final Update: 04/09/2026 10:53:00 AM – After Microsoft’s completed deployed code fix, their internal service telemetry reports that the failures when running optimised Microsoft Teams in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure has been remediated. Users who continue to experience failures will need to twice restart their Microsoft Teams application so their fix can be applied and to remediate the impact.

Scope of impact: Users who have updated their Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to New VDI solution for Teams version of 26213.1002.4977.2998 or greater may experience failures of the Microsoft Teams application running as optimized for VDI.

Root cause: A recent update introduced a code defect that’s resulting in this impacting event.
