Issue Description: Some users may be unable to use or see Microsoft 365 Copilot in Excel.
More info: Some users in the APAC region experienced an issue in which the Microsoft 365 Copilot pane in Excel appeared blank when opened, preventing access to Copilot functionality.
The affected users could restore functionality by restarting the application or rebooting their device.
Final Update: 21/08/2026 04:59:00 PM –Microsoft has completed the rollback of the affected update and validated that the issue is resolved.
Users who continue to experience a blank Copilot pane can restore functionality by restarting Excel or rebooting their device.
Scope of impact: Some users in the APAC region attempting to use Microsoft 365 Copilot in Excel may experience a blank Copilot pane and be unable to access Copilot functionality.
Root cause: A recent update intended to improve the Microsoft 365 Copilot experience in the Excel desktop application prevented the Copilot pane from loading correctly for some users.
Next steps: Microsoft is reviewing their update validation and deployment processes to help prevent similar issues from occurring in future releases.
They will provide a preliminary Post-Incident Report within two business days and a final Post-Incident Report within five business days.
