Issue Description: Users may have degraded video and screensharing quality in Microsoft Teams.
More info: The issue isn’t limited to Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) devices but also affects desktop clients and other scenarios.
Current Update: 16/01/2026 09:15:00 AM – Microsoft incrementally applied the ECS configuration change to a portion of the affected environments and are seeing positive results. In addition, they received confirmation from a subset of affected users that the performance has improved. They plan to continue rolling out the ECS configuration change incrementally and if things are continuing to trend positively, they will start the broader deployment. They anticipate that the deployment will complete by Friday, January 16, 2026.
Scope of impact: This issue could affect users joining Microsoft Teams meetings whose requests are routed through portions of Microsoft Teams infrastructure that have received the update. This information may be updated as their investigation continues.
Root cause: A recent Microsoft Teams server update unintentionally introduced a corruption scenario, leading to degraded video or screensharing quality during calls.
