NHSmail Reference: INC46811169

Microsoft Reference: PB1293838

Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users can’t export data from Power BI visuals to Excel.

More info: When affected users attempt to export data from Power BI visuals to Excel, the export operation remains in a loading state and doesn’t complete.

As a temporary way to circumvent impact users can follow these steps:
1. Locate all hierarchy slicers on the report page that filter the visual you want to export. These are separate slicer visuals (dropdowns, checkboxes, or lists), not the data visual itself.
2. On each hierarchy slicer, click the eraser icon in the top-right corner of that slicer to clear its selections, then manually re-select only the specific items you want. Use Ctrl+Click to select multiple items. Do not use “Select All” and then uncheck items.
3. Repeat for every hierarchy slicer on the page, then export from the data visual.

Final Update: 19/05/2026 09:04:00 AM Microsoft has confirmed that the deployment of the new Power BI version containing the fix has saturated the majority of the impacted users’ environment. We’re continuing to monitor as the saturation completes in the remaining impacted environment. We expect the Power BI service will automatically upgrade to the latest version containing the fix, though we recommend users ensure they are on Client version: 2605.1.29256-train and manually upgrade if necessary.

Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and some users attempting to export data from Power BI visuals to Excel are impacted. This information may be updated as our investigation continues.

Root cause: A recent service update introduced a code regression which is causing certain data conditions not to be properly validated, resulting in failures during the export process.
