Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users may see a banner in the Microsoft Teams desktop app mistakenly stating they are on an old version.

More info: The error stated “You’re using an old version of Teams. Update the app to continue using Teams on this device”. This banner appeared in the Microsoft Teams desktop app regardless of the version being used.

Final Update: 03/08/2026 08:45:00 AM –Microsoft has updated the configuration of the offending service update and confirmed that impact is remediated.

Scope of impact: Users on newer versions of Microsoft Teams may have been impacted.

Root cause: The service that detects the version of Microsoft Teams a user was using was mistakenly detecting new versions as old, resulting in impact.

Next steps: Microsoft is reviewing the service that detects the version of Microsoft Teams to identify why it was misconfigured, allowing us to prevent future instances of impact.
