Issue Description: Users may have been unable to open People Cards in SharePoint Online.

Final Update: 16/01/2026 08:55:00 AM – Microsoft have confirmed that recent authorisation changes intended to improve security functionality introduced an error that prevented users from opening People Cards. They have reverted the authorisation changes and confirmed in our telemetry that the impact is remediated.

Scope of impact: This issue may have potentially impacted any user attempting to open People Cards in SharePoint Online.
