Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Some users may be unable to download the correct Microsoft Teams Windows client installer.

More info: Affected users when attempting to download the installer from the download site, the installer will be downloaded with a .gz extension.

As a workaround, affected users are recommended to download installer using Microsoft Store App to download Microsoft Teams Windows client using the following steps:

Go to Microsoft Store – https://apps.microsoft.com/
Search “Microsoft Teams”
Result will show the Teams app
Select and “Download” the app
Install the app – Once exe file is downloaded

Final Update: 03/10/2025 08:30:00 AM – Microsoft have determined that a recent configuration change to the format of how the Microsoft Teams Windows client installer is downloaded caused impact to occur. They’ve implemented a fix to the affected infrastructure and confirmed that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to users attempting to download the Microsoft Teams installer.
