Microsoft Reference: IT1431577
Issue Status: RESOLVED
Issue Description: Users’ newly enrolled Windows devices were marked as non-compliant in Microsoft Intune.
More Info: The issue impacted newly enrolled or newly recovered Windows devices that received Windows builds 26100.8875 and 26200.8875 and were targeted for a compliance policy configured for device health before completing Microsoft Intune enrollment.
Devices that were already enrolled before installing the affected builds were not impacted.
As we developed a permanent remediation, affected organizations should have ensured that new and newly recovered devices completed Microsoft Intune enrollment before installing Windows updates.
Final Update: 20/07/2026 10:31:00 AM – Microsoft has completed deployment of a fix to address a code regression introduced in the recent Windows builds to affected environments. After completing a monitoring period of service availability, they have validated that their actions successfully remediated impact.
Scope of impact: Impact was limited to newly enrolled or newly recovered Windows devices that received Windows builds 26100.8875 and 26200.8875 before Microsoft Intune enrollment completed. These devices may have been incorrectly reported as non-compliant by Microsoft Intune.
Root cause: Recent Windows builds introduced a code regression that affected device health attestation and compliance evaluation by Microsoft Intune. As a result, newly enrolled or newly recovered Windows devices that received the affected builds before enrollment completed may have been incorrectly marked as non-compliant.
Next steps: Microsoft is analyzing the offending Windows builds to validate why the potential for impact wasn’t caught during their build validation process. This further analysis will help them to improve their Windows build implementation process moving forward to ensure similar impact scenarios don’t occur in the future.
