Issue Description: Some may users see incorrect service names and descriptions in Services and the Event Viewer upon upgrade to Windows 11.

More Info: This issue is only impacting users who have upgraded to Windows 11 during or after June of 2025.

Final Update: 10/09/2026 10:00:00 AM – Microsoft has confirmed their solution to address the incorrect service names and descriptions in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Services and Event Viewer has fully saturated and the impact has been fully remediated by our actions.

Scope of impact: This issue impacts a subset of users who have upgraded to Windows 11 in or after June of 2025.

Root cause: A Windows update is producing localisation issues including incorrect service names and descriptions in Services and the Event Viewer for users who have upgraded to Windows 11 in or after June of 2025.

Next Steps: They are evaluating the localization issues introduced by the impacting Windows update so they can more effectively identify and correct similar regressions in future update testing prior to deployments to prevent this issue from reoccurring.
