Issue Description: Users may be unable to drag and drop files to add references into Copilot Notebooks.
More info: Affected users could’ve avoided the issue by referencing files from their local PC by choosing the ‘Upload from this device’ icon to the right of the search bar. To reference files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, affected users could’ve used search or chosen the cloud icon to the far right from the search bar.
Final Update: 24/07/2026 09:18:00 AM – Microsoft has confirmed that reverting the responsible update has successfully remediated this impact for all affected environments.
Scope of impact: Users attempting to drag and drop files to add references into Copilot Notebooks may have been unable to do so.
Root cause: An update intended to optimise the service contained an error, which resulted in this impact.
Next steps: Microsoft is reviewing the responsible update to better understand what led to the error that resulted in impact and prevent similar future occurrences.
