Issue Description: Users may have been unable to use some Education features in multiple Microsoft 365 apps.

More info: Affected Microsoft 365 Assignment features included, Reading Progress in Microsoft Teams, Speaker Progress in Microsoft Teams, Teach in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, and the Learning Activities web app.

Affected teachers may have been unable to create Reading Progress or Speaker Progress assignments, view history in Teach for Microsoft Copilot, save artifacts created in Teach, or save artifacts created in Learn. Teachers may have also seen failures with the Study and Learn Agent, and the Learning Activities Web App may have failed to load the home page.

Affected students may have been unable to use Reading Progress and Speaker progress assignments, use Learning Activities or use the Learn Agent to create Learning Activities.

Final Update: 10/06/2026 09:36:00 AM After a period of monitoring service health, Microsoft has determined that this issue is resolved. Affected users may need to sign out and back into the affected services to pick up the fix.

Scope of impact: Any user may have been unable to use the affected Education features in the impacted Microsoft 365 apps.

Root cause: A change related to specific authentication component updates introduced during a recent application deployment caused failures across dependent services, resulting in the impact.

Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing their validation and updating procedures to better detect and prevent issues like this prior to deployment in the future.
