NHSmail Reference: INC46503873

Microsoft Reference: EX1052961

Issue Status: ONGOING

Issue Description: Admins may be unable to run the Get-FederationInformation PowerShell cmdlet in Exchange Online.

More info: Affected admins may bypass the impact by running the Get-FederatedOrganizationIdentifier cmdlet.

Current Update: 17/04/2025 09:32:00 AM The ongoing fix deployment has saturated 60 percent of the affected environment, and Microsoft’s expect that some users may begin to experience remediation incrementally as it nears completion. Additionally, they anticipate that the saturation process will be completed by their next scheduled update.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to admins who are served through the affected infrastructure attempting to run the Get-FederationInformation PowerShell cmdlet in Exchange Online.

Root cause: A recent change to the API, intended to assign identities to users utilizing the API and assign a “user agent” to them, contains a bug which results in code failing to parse the user agent stream, resulting in an error.
