Issue Description: Users experienced impact for various Microsoft Teams scenarios.
More Information: The Microsoft Teams web client, desktop app, and mobile app were impacted.
Users experienced the following impact scenarios.
Users couldn’t add users to teams, both standard and private, and shared channels.
– Users saw some users appearing as “Unknown user” in chats and channels.
– Users were showing stale people card data and their picture, name, etc. wasn’t updating.
– Users couldn’t update their calendar events in Microsoft Teams. Users were still able to update their calendar events in Outlook.
Final Update: 03/10/2024 08:55:00 AM – After reverting the offending change, Microsoft confirmed with monitoring internal telemetry that the impact scenarios listed in the “More info” sections are remediated and the issue is resolved.
Scope of impact: Your organization was affected by this event, and some users on the Microsoft Teams web client, desktop app, and mobile app were impacted.
Root cause: A recently deployed fix to resolve an unrelated issue introduced a compatibility issue with various APIs that resulted in multiple impact scenarios in Microsoft Teams.
Next steps: Microsoft are further reviewing the unrelated fix to understand how the compatibility issue was introduced, and to understand what prevented it from being detected in their update testing and validation procedures, which will allow us to prevent similar issues in future deployments.
