Issue Description: Users may be unable to open some files in the Microsoft Project Online desktop client from SharePoint Online.
More info: This issue specifically affects opening Microsoft Project Plan (MPP) files. Affected users can bypass the impact by starting the Microsoft Project Online desktop client before attempting to open MPP files. Once Microsoft Project Online has been started, affected users can open MPP files without issue. If impact reoccurs, users can start Microsoft Project Online on their desktop again to bypass the reoccurring impact. Additionally, users may be able to open these files through Project for the web as an alternative while we troubleshoot this problem.
Final Update: 17/07/2024 08:55:00 AM – Microsoft have completed the deployment of the fix to the affected environments and have verified with the affected users that this action has successfully resolved the problem.
Scope of impact: Any user attempting to open some files in the Microsoft Project Professional desktop client from SharePoint Online may be impacted.
