Issue Description: Users may have seen “unknown presence” instead of an accurate presence for certain users in Microsoft Teams.

More info: Users may have seen “unknown presence” showing for some cross cloud users. Users in the same cloud had their presence showing accurately.

Final Update: 14/05/2025 09:00:00 AM – Microsoft have confirmed that the fix has successfully been deployed and impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Some users may have seen “unknown presence” instead of an accurate presence for certain users in Microsoft Teams.

Root cause: A recent infrastructure migration introduced a misconfiguration, which led to impact.

Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing the affected infrastructure for changes they can make to their testing and detection systems to help prevent similar issues from occurring again in the future.
