Final Update: 30/08/2024 12:38:00 AM – Microsoft have confirmed that the fix has successfully completed, and after a period of monitoring that impact has been fully resolved.
Scope of impact: Impact is specific to users who are served through the affected infrastructure attempting to import PST files using hard disk Drive Shipping in any Microsoft 365 service.
Root cause: A scheduled database infrastructure migration, intended to support the deprecation of legacy storage infrastructure and improve general security measures, is causing the import PST files using hard disk Drive Shipping feature to become temporarily unavailable.
Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing their database migration procedures to help prevent similar problems in the future.
