Issue Description: Some users may experience intermittent service degradation for multiple Microsoft 365 services and functions.

More info: Impact scenarios are as follows:
– Some file icons and items may not be displayed from office.com.
– Some Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint filles and items may not be displayed.
– Some SharePoint Online file card fields may not populate.
– Some information may be missing in People card files in Outlook on the web.
– Answers, cards, highlights, and suggestions in Viva Topics may disappear.

Final Update: 15/07/2024 08:56:00 AM – The fix has completed deployment and Microsoft have confirmed through monitoring service telemetry that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Some users attempting to use the impacted Microsoft 365 services and functions may be intermittently impacted.

Root cause: An authentication component on a portion of infrastructure that facilities the impacted services was causing a compatibility issue and resulting in degradation for various Microsoft 365 services and functionalities.

Next steps: Microsoft are reviewing the impacted authentication component so that they can better understand what caused the compatibility issue so we can prevent similar impact from occurring in the future.
