Issue Description : Users may be unable to perform searches in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

More Info : Impacted services include, but aren’t limited to:

– SharePoint Online
– Exchange Online (Outlook on the web, Outlook desktop and mobile clients)
– OneDrive for Business
– Microsoft Teams
– Office.com homepage
– Microsoft Stream

Affected users may receive a 500 internal server error message “something went wrong” when attempting to search..

Final Update : 28/07/2023 08:38:00 AM – Microsoft’s extended period of service monitoring has confirmed that their fix deployment has corrected the affected configuration and remediated the impact.

Scope of impact : Impact is specific to some users who are served through the affected infrastructure attempting to search in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

Root cause : A recent service update, intended to enhance general search functionality, is inadvertently causing users to encounter errors when performing searches in multiple Microsoft 365 services.

Next steps : Microsoft are further analyzing the offending service update and the introduced configuration problem so they can help identify similar issues during their testing and validation processes and before they can result in impact.
