Issue Description : A small subset of Android users may experience Microsoft Teams mobile app crashes when receiving incoming calls.

Users may not be aware that they’re getting an incoming call in the app. Instead, a call is triggered, and the app may crash prior to users getting the call. Impact is specific to users that have upgraded to the new 1416/1.0.0.2022413901 build. Affected users can utilize the Microsoft Teams desktop and web app without issue.

Scope of impact : The problem may impact a subset of Android users that have upgraded to the new 1416/1.0.0.2022413901 build.

Final Update : 22/12/2022 08:10:00 AM – After confirming the viability of Microsoft’s fix, they have broadly expanded our deployment to the entire affected environment. After the fix had been fully deployed and a period of monitoring our service telemetry, they have internally validated that impact has been remediated.

Root Cause : A recent Android API 31 update to the Microsoft Teams mobile app contained a code issue that resulted in impact.

Next steps : Microsoft is further reviewing the offending update to better understand why it produced the code issue to help better identify similar problems before impact to users is introduced.
